NIAAH Scholars is a program in which African American students enrolled in college, post-baccalaureate studies, and medical school will be exposed to additional educational support through strategic mentorship, standardized exam preparation, digital/video learning resources, and other performance enhancement activities. NIAAH will dually serve as a capacity builder, supporting existing mentoring-based organizations at regional universities trying to improve their reach and impact with African American students. Our services will specifically support programs geared at attracting, retaining, and graduating pre-med and medical students. Foundational negative biases toward African American patients can be most efficiently addressed by increasing the number medical providers from African American communities. This will always remain one of our core activities.
